Learn While You Earn: Apply for a Professional Scholarship Today

Mary Soper started her first job in the hotel industry in Boise, Idaho and has since worked in hotels across the country. Apart from a break to be a stay-at-home mom, Mary has worked in the industry for nearly 18 years. She is just one example of someone who has benefited from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation’s (AHLEF) professional scholarship program.

As a military spouse, a career in the hospitality industry has allowed her to bring her skill set and experience with her anywhere in the country as her husband was deployed to various stations. While her skills were easily transferable from hotel to hotel, the frequent restarts at new companies presented obstacles and prevented her from growing her career in the way she envisioned.

However, during one specific assignment, Mary found the opportunity she had been looking for at an IHG Army Hotel. Working for IHG gave her the ability to move geographically while allowing her to stay with the same company and grow her career there.

This career opportunity sparked Mary’s desire to develop herself professionally, and she applied for an AHLEF scholarship. We proudly awarded her with the Jack Vaughn Memorial Scholarship, and she now has a universally recognized credential that will allow her to maintain her career momentum wherever she may be based.

AHLEF provides professional scholarships to help hoteliers to get professional certifications at no-cost. From front-line to general manager, there is a certification for each one of your employees. Perfect for those that want to advance their career by growing their industry knowledge or skill set.

AHLEF has already awarded nearly 200 professional scholarships, and you can be next.

All you have to do is APPLY before our next scholarship deadline closes on July 1.
