Supporting Our Communities
Hotels power America’s economy and are an integral part of the communities we serve. Hotel and lodging businesses of all sizes are local mainstays across the nation, investing in their communities, growing jobs and supporting neighboring small businesses.
Hospitality for Hope
AHLA’s Hospitality for Hope initiative was created to boost collaboration between the hotel industry and local, state and federal governments to help employees, communities and the industry during the unprecedented COVID-19 health crisis.
Early in the pandemic, AHLA worked to support communities across the country by connecting hotel properties with the health community that were struggling to find housing and support. The program continues to evolve as the hotel industry grows its impact.
Integral Community Partners
As employers, taxpayers and neighbors, hoteliers are proud to be an integral part of communities across America, and we are committed to strengthening and growing them together. Prior to the pandemic, hotels generated $186 billion in federal, state and local taxes annually, and guests spent $278 billion on transportation, dining, shopping and other activities at local businesses during their stays.
